Year 2 Art Week
Perspectives on our School Community
A journey around our school.
On the first day, Year 2 children will be mapping routes through the school inspired by old 'itinerary' maps, which used features of the landscape and local landmarks, like buildings, as waymarkers quite unlike the maps we use today. (But not unlike using a route planner!) Small groups will be drawing through the school identifying the key features or landmarks that they might use to help find their way from one point to another. These drawings will then be used as the basis for block print making on the second day of Art Week. They will be block printing individual pieces to keep and also banners to be displayed in the school. The final day will see the children developing their itinerary maps and sketches and finding those among their classmates who identified similar landmarks and features to produce collages of prints for display in the gallery later in the day.
