Family Support

Here at Colston’s we believe being a parent is one of the most challenging, rewarding and important roles that anyone can have.  All the children and families with us deserve to be supported from their earliest years so they can develop the life skills they will need to grow into happy healthy young people.

Meet our family support team:

We have a dedicated team of three family support workers at Colston’s, this is actually quite unusual for a primary school, but we believe in the value of pastoral care for both you and your children while you are with us. Our family support workers are: Jane Gray and  Sam Martin. You can pop into the office and ask to meet with us to have a chat or telephone or email, we are here to help. Email: Telephone: 0117 3772610.

What does our family support team offer?

  • Meeting with you at school for a chat regarding any issue you might be worried about regarding  yourself or your child.
  • Providing information on local services and activities.
  • Providing support during key times: birth of new baby, starting school, relationship problems, illness or bereavement, mental health issues.
  • Short focused parenting courses on positive parenting techniques
  • Signposting support for parents who wish to return to work or education.
  • Signposting support for parents with financial worries, housing issues, or debt problems.
  • Working with mainly our pupil premium children.

What happens next?

Contact us to arrange a first meeting at school or If it is easier for you we are happy to meet at your home. In this instance, 2 family support workers will attend.  At this meeting you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and for us all to agree how we can best support you.
