Colston's Primary School

PTA & Fundraising: Introduction

Every parent/guardian is automatically a member of the PTAF (Parents, Teachers and Friends). Our objectives are to

Develop more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school

Engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils

Provide and assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school which are not normally provided by the Local Education Authority.

In 2006/7 our net fundraising achieved the total of £10,539.

In previous years, money raised by the PTAF has made significant contributions to major school projects such as the refurbishment of the library and the pupil's kitchen, the playpark and the covered stage.

In addition to large scale projects, the PTAF gives hundreds of pounds directly to each class teacher each year to spend on extra classroom resources, and spends several thousand pounds on Art Week.

Our events such as the Spooky Disco, Carols by Candlelight, Christmas and Summer Fairs and Barn Dances are not only held to raise funds but to bring the wider school community together to have fun.
