Celebrating Diversity, Learning Together

PE and Sports Premium

Purpose

The Government is providing additional ring-fenced funding to schools to improve the quality of sport and PE for all children. The funding is calculated according to the number of pupils on roll and in a school of our size we receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil. The funding is allocated to schools for an academic year in 2 instalments in October/November and again in April/May.

This year we have chosen to work continue to work with Sports Stars  who work with a number of schools, engaging in regular PE and Sport activities. By working together we can; share best practice, collaborate in PE programmes, exchange high quality ideas and broaden local competition options.

We do this by focusing on:

  1. High Quality PE. Sports Stars provide PE mentoring for our school staff.
  2. Providing a learning environment that allows children to develop in addition to the practical side a theoretical understanding of why sport and physical activity is so important to capture and sustain new interest.
  3. We release school staff from their timetable so they can take children to competitions, events and festivals.

Children are signposted to community opportunities so they can continue to pursue any new-found interests.

The School Governors monitor the impact of our spending by visiting the school and receiving reports from the Headteacher. Each year we publish a report on our website. This tells our visitors how we have spent our grant and what the impact is.

In 2016/17, we have anticipated £10,000 of PE and Sports Premium Funding. This is how it will be allocated:

Sports Stars: £10,934
